I have a large Kenmore grill, but I prefer to use the Baby Q. It heats up quickly and cooks food evenly. Also, the grate is non stick and very easy to clean. I always run out of the drip pans so I put aluminum foil in them and just toss that at the end. Overall, this is a great grill for the money, and has lots of accessories(check out the stand).
I bought this grill for portability. It lives up to the Weber name. I purchased the large bottle LP adapter also as I didn't want to waste money on the disposable cylinders. The only downside is the small grilling surface, but that's what you give up for ease of bringing it somewhere on the road.
Best grill under 300 bucks bar-none. It fires right up first or second try every time. It wreaks of high quality. Grills whatever you want perfectly...steaks, chicken, burgers, fish, corn, shrimp, scallops, veggies etc. Use it with the cart and you're set. 5 stars without a doubt!
I have just recently bought my second Weber Q grill. I loved the first one so much (we keep it at camp.) I wanted another at the house. It's pretty bad when you have a huge stainless steel grill but prefer the Weber Q. Great Grill!!!!
I have had the opportunity to use the Weber Baby Q Model 120 a half dozen times now, and I could't be happier with it. I've barbecued steaks, hamburgers and hot dogs on it and they've all cooked evenly and left qreat sear marks, thanks to the porcelain-covered cast iron grate. The grill heats up quickly and develops more than enough heat to properly sear a great steak.
I'm a little puzzled why customers so highly rated the Weber Q grill but down-rated the Baby Q. They are identical except in size! Yes, the heat output is less than the Q, but the area to be heated is less, as well.
I am an RVer. The Baby Q fits perfectly in one of my basement compartments, and its compact size and reasonable weight makes it a perfect grill for RVing. Although it's size is perfect for the grilling needs of my wife and me, it also performed admirably for us when we had company on one of our recent camping trips.
It is a dream to clean, to use, and to store. What more can you ask for?
A few reviewers complained about the Weber grills not accepting the camping-style propane cylinders seems odd to me--the type cylinder the Weber uses is the more widely available and common soldering-torch style, found at any hardware store.
I haven't had to use those cylinders yet; I use our 5-gallon cylinder, which I carry with us on our trips, and I also have available my RV's 100-
gallon propane tank. All it takes is the proper hoses and attachments.
I was concerned that the heat would discolor the painted lid (ours is the more common "silver" color) but so far the color remains the same as it was when we received it. (FYI, Weber also sells Baby Q models with forest green lids and red lids. These lids can also be purchased individually from Weber--check their website.)
The Weber Baby Q Model 120 has the fold-in tables as does its larger siblings. I have found these tables to be very helpful to me when I grill, so I don't regret spending the extra money for this model.
In my opinion this grill deserves every one of its five stars.
This is my third gas BBQ. I had the Weber Gas Go-Anywhere grill for many years. Then upgraded to a Char-Broil Gas Patio Caddie. That was a big mistake. Now, the Weber Q 120 is the best so far. Cooking is even though-out the surface. I already grilled many steaks, a few are 1 3/4" thick and all are perfect. Note: The cast iron grate looks sturdy, but is somewhat hard to clean. And I encountered the problem with the gas pressure regulator. If I open the propane tank too quick, the gas pressure regulator blocks the gas flow. The solution is to close the propane tank valve, remove the hose to relieve pressure. Reattach the hose, then open the valve slowly. Since the food is delicious, I am willing to overlook this defect and give 5 stars.
I tailgate with a big crew. Sometimes as many as 20 people to feed. I have always had Weber grills at home and was using the Smokey Joe at tailgates, but the charcoal was a hassle when heading in to the game.
I have used the Q all season with great success. It can't hold a full bird but grilling sausages and hot dogs for 20 people was a snap.
It cleans in minutes and stows away for post game snacks.
You'll need a table to get it to the right hieght. I did not get the Weber stand. I found a folding grill table at K Mart for $40.00 that beats the Weber stand by a mile.
The Weber rolling duffle bag works fine. Holds the extra gear and spare tanks of propane.
It came well packaged and was a breeze to assemble. I was very impressed with the quality. Its easy to move around and feels real sturdy ...excellent for tailgating. It ignited on the first push and heated up quickly. The kabobs came out great. This is definitely one of my better purchases. I ended up picking up the roll cart for it at a local Sears. A little on the low side, but packs away nicely.
This is an excellant portable grill and is sized well for RV usage.
The igniter works but requires too long a time to start grill.
I usually use a portable igniter. First grill I've had where the
igniter worked after 2 uses though. Good even flame pattern.
Works great with 20 lb tank.
We were originally looking for a full sized grill and wanting to spend around $200, but when I started reading the reviews about the weber q series, I knew I had to have one. The size of this one is fine for the 2 of us and the food tastes way better than on any other gas bbq I've tried. It is kind of pricey, after buying the grill, the adapter hose, and the cart, we spent about $200. But it was worth it for us to sacrifice size for taste. A trick for the adapter hose: after you hook it up and open the valve on the propane cylinder, you HAVE to wait 60 seconds before trying to ignite the grill. If you don't, it triggers a safety mechanism and the flame will be uneven and may not stay lit.
