Weber 6740001 Genesis Gold B Propane, Stainless Steel
What a fantastic work of grill art! This is a terrific grill for the price. This is a basic grill that does what it does with perfection. First off, it's a fine looking grill. Second, it has excellent construction. But most of all, the cooking element of this grill is superb. Heating elements are protected with triangular structures that serve 2 purposes: they protect the heating elements and they help disperse the heat better. Honestly, I couldn't ask for more. Fancier, more expensive grills are overkill in my opinion.
I love this grill! Looks great and cooks even better. Gets very hot very fast!
I took a lot of time to research and find the best grill and nearly everything I read pointed to Weber. I gave in and purchased this grill a couple summers ago and have not been disappointed once. Weber's are a little more expensive then just going to the local discount store and picking one up but based on my experience so far I believe this one will last as long as I want it to. It is very sturdy and solid. Very happy with this purchase.
I purchased this grill as a Christmas gift for my father. He absolutely loves it and searches for every opportunity to use it. I was first startled by the size of this grill. It is much larger compared to the size the pictures make it seem to appear. Turkey and large chicken can easily fit onto the grill. This grill is heavy!! Its sturdy well-built. If used to its full capabilities it is definately worth the price.
I am not disappointed. This grill cooks hot. 500 degrees within about 10 minutes. In fact. I've had the grill about a month and I think I've grilled 25 days of the month. I need to watch it with all the meat but man I'm loving it. It's so convenient. My last grill didn't cook as hot. It didn't leave the grill marks. It didn't have the flavor of what this grill offers. There is not much to complain about. I dropped it while trying to put it together by myself. I thought it was going to break my floor, not the other way around. This sucker is tough!
I'm glad I didn't go cheap. I can't afford $1000-$2000 for a grill so this was a good medium for me. My last grill I paid $250 for. It rusted in 2 years and the replacement parts cost almost as much as the grill so I dumped it. I think I'll get my money's worth out of this Weber.
At this price even with the shipping it was cheaper to order online through Amazon than to buy local. I consider this one of the smarter purchases I've made on Amazon.
**Bad side. Has nothing to do with the grill but Amazon shipped it through a company named EGL or Eagle? For a logistics company they sure don't know what their doing. The delivery date kept changing and eventually it was a week later than the original estimated date. They sent it from Reno to Sacramento to Chicago to Omaha and back to Chicago then back to Omaha. From Omaha they hired two dudes and a truck to drive it to Des Moines where I live. Once in Des Moines they called me while I was at work. I met them at a gas station on the highway and lead them to my house. It took about 20 minutes to find them because the one that spoke English was still new to the language. No problem. They were nice enough fellas but I'm just not used to going to get my stuff when I order from Amazon.
I'm sure I'll eventually love this new Weber SS grill. But it seems to take considerable time to get the grill properly seasoned so the burners give off sufficient heat to cook evenly. Of course, it's been winter since I received the grill, making it difficult to exercise ample outdoor cooking to thoroughly test & enjoy the grill.
The best thing about this grill is that it has two "swing up" surfaces for holding your platters or foods to be prepared. A great work surface, easy cleaning, and no cold spots within the cook area make this top of the line. Looks great too!
You can't go wrong buying this great grill. It was a snap to put together with easy to follow instructions. It heats up super fast and cooks with wonderful efficency. No cold spots as far as I can tell so far on any parts of the cooking surface and flame-ups are kept to a minimum. You won't be dissapointed if you bring this baby home.
I love my grill, honestly, I couldn't be happier. While I have been around some other grills that friends have, I really like the extra features mine has. Now with the quality of Weber, this grill heats up evenly, and quickly. Its a snap to start too, just turn on the gas, turn a knob, and push a button, its ready to start.
The grill comes with a wonderful gauge on the propane tank to let you know how much gas you have left. No need to worry about how much is left, because you will always know. Unlike another one of the reviewers mine has no issues with the doors closing, they close perfectly.
There isn't enough nice things I can say about the grill, it is high quality, and will give you many years of service. The stainless steel construction, the stainless steel grills won't get damanged, the BBQ is designed with many features you didn't even know you needed.
A really nice grill made with high quality materials. Very even heat. I love this grill.

I got lucky on my purchase of the 2005 Genesis Gold B. Apparently the store I purchased it at put Genesis Silver B barcodes on the Gold B boxes, so I ended up getting charged 499 instead of 599. The grill is worth every penny so far. It's a miser when it comes to gas, and it heats up to 550 degrees in about 5-10 minutes! That's amazingly fast. New to the 2005 models are the doors, and it's apparent, because they're my only complaint about the design of the unit. They just don't open and close perfectly. Also be warned that Weber Grills in 2005 no longer ship with a propane tank. You must have one or buy one seperately. I wish the burners were further apart for indirect cooking of large pieces of meat. I had a large rack of ribs, and the edges got charred while I had the middle burner turned off. Next time I'll use foil. Chalk that mistake up to not knowing better.
Make sure you have someone around when you're putting this grill together. Step 3 requires you to put the top onto the legs, and this requires 2 people. Other than that, I was able to quickly put everything together and was grilling within an hour of starting the project. I really wish Weber would start using words in their instructions rather than just try to convey all the instructions with pictures. But like I said, I was able to easily get everything put together. I also bought the appropriate grill cover from Amazon and it fits like a glove. Great investment.
I owned a Weber Baby Q while living in an apartment, and loved it to death. It's now relegated to beach trip duty while my new Genesis Gold B is the workhorse of the house. Good job Weber!
