I have owned two webers before this one, they were great, the first we had for 5 years then my husband took to work to use and they purchased us another one. that one at work still works. We had the other one for about 7 years and took it to our lake house. it still works. Then I got this bright Idea to save some money and buy a cheaper grill, Because I will say webers are high! and we were running low on money just built a house and put in a yard. My husband told me I would be sorry, I told him this one I was getting was stainless steel. it was about $300 something dollars. looked great at Lowes. He was right, It cooked horrible, uneven, didnt noticed the opening in the back of it.. all the heat went out. He fixed a plate to go over it. didnt help. It used so much gas took forever to cook. Food was dry. I had to put a pan of water in to keep moisture. But I use it till it was totally burned out. all the burners rusted out except one. It was a rust bucket when we took it apart to try to clean it. and we kept it under the porch and covered at all times. It lasted about a year and half. So this Christmas my husband said what do you want, I said a weber no doubt. As much as I grill. I dont fry and rarley use the oven. its like buying a appliance to me, and I want the best from now on. It cooks even all the time. the food is moist never dry. I cook on indirect heat. not direct as some people do. Thats turning the two back burners off and leaving the front two on, to cook slower, and not over flames to burn it. but the weber is so hot,, it cooks it pretty fast. It really burns my arm to reach arcross to turn the meat. And no I dont have to add a pan of water for moisture. I will never ever buy another grill. I have learned my lesson well. And they last for a longgg time if you take care of them. Keep them out of the weather and keep them covered. And maintained. I would be a spokes person for them anyday!
After using the new Weber E-310 Propane grill this entire summer, I have to say I'm disappointed. My last Weber grill was superb and a real workhorse. This one has gas-flow problems which appear randomly. Full gas on all burners and it barely puts out 200 degrees. If I turn off the gas, wait a few seconds, turn it all back on again, then the flow is putting out major heat. This is very odd to me and it happens all the time so it's not some temporary clog.
Also, the knobs on this unit are horrible. They're flimsy and cheap feeling and sit WAY above the control panel unnecessarily. I expected more for 700.00 particularly since my last Weber grill which cost half the price felt solid as a rock.
Also the propane measuring doo-hicky isn't very accurate. It's a cheap spring-loaded haunch that frequently "sticks" and is semi-accurate at best. It's best to feel the side of the tank since this thing is useless.
The assembly would be a challenge for most since the instructions aren't particularly clear sometimes. The instructions include options for other grills which you just "have to ignore", and the drawings aren't clear about when to use the metal washers and vinyl ones (which is very important because of heat distribution). The washers seems to have the same color in the instruction pictures.
Things I love are the porcelain grates (the entire reason I bought this grill by the way), the electric start, and the large surface cooking area.
I have owned many gas grills over the years and this is by far the best grill I have ever owned. It heats up fast and evenly, was easy to put together and is sharp and attractive in appearence. The price was a little high but well worth it. I rate it an A++++++++
Weber has been around for a long time for good reason. They have definitely created a refined grilling machine with the Genesis. Very pleased with this purchase.
This grill is so nice. Operates so easily with the touch of a button and looks nice on our deck too.
Okay, it took a little while longer than expected to put together, and some of the illustrations on the directions could be larger, but this grill rocks. I used to have a Viking, and this Weber is built far better. The tolerances between parts is amazing, everything fits and works, all pieces are solid metal, and it worked the first time I pressed start. This is one of the best made products I have every purchased and, believe it or not, I think it's even made in America. Highly recommended.
This is my third Weber. I have a Weber Bullett Smoker and a 22" Charcoal Kettle Grill. The Weber Genesis 310 is an excellent product, well constucted of quality components. The control over the temperature is excellent.
I had been looking to replace my old base model charbroil grill for the last two years, and in the process did alot of research and reading of reviews online. I also checked out various brands at OSH, Home Depot, etc. I like to buy quality, but not necessarily top of the line, so this model fit the bill.
I've had the grill for a week now, and I couldn't be happier. Assembly took about 2 hours and documentation was pretty poor, but if you're mechanically inclined, you should have no problems. Quality of construction is very good and all the parts fit together perfectly.
Cooking with the grill is a treat compared with my old grill. So far, I've cooked chicken thighs, sausages, and hamburgers which all dripped fat with little or no flare ups. My old grill resembled a comet when cooking these foods, but not the Weber - apparently the flavorizer bars really work to protect the burners from grease.
Temperature control is also very impressive. I cooked a pizza and two loaves of sourdough bread on a baking stone in the grill this weekend to prevent warming the house with the oven. The results were excellent due to the sensitive burner adjustments and high quality thermometer in the lid.
It also can get amazingly hot if you need it to. For the first run, I let it go for about twenty minutes on high to burn off any packing chemicals or paint odors, and it quickly reached 600+ degrees. It felt like a blast furnace with the lid open. For normal grilling, it reaches about 450 in 10 minutes and puts an impressive sear on meat.
Overall, this is an excellent grill and should last a long time if properly cared for. I bought the Weber cover as well, which fits nicely and should keep it looking like new for years to come.
I got this grill for my husband on his birthday and he LOVES it! I love it too because he now volunteers to cook dinner just so he can use his grill. It is very versatile and really high quality. He recommends it to everyone.
Fantastic service! I was going to be out of town when this was scheduled to arrive. Amazon told me to contact the contracted shipping company, as it was already en route and I may have to pay to have it shipped back. I did, they never called me back. Amazon followed up on their own and had a grill delivered to my deck the day before I left, four days before it was due. Excellent!
The grill itself was fairly easy to put together, about 1 1/2 hours. Better than the last one.
It cooks beautifully, very even. The grates seem to release food well. The only thing I have to say is I didn't realize how much fuel it would use, check it out.
