Weber 1741001 Summit E-450 Grill, Propane, Black
I've owned Weber kettles for years, most recently the Performer. I don't think you can beat Weber's reliability at any price and when comparing this grill to the highest-end gas grill at big-box stores, you can feel that the Weber is more solid and has more useful features. The great looks are lagniappe.
When Ike hit, and we found ourselves cooking on my charcoal grill, I found myself yearning for the convenience of a gas grill. I've always been patient with charcoal, but the instant heating and side-burner of a gas model are attractive features when you need to cook a variety of foods.
Having received and set up this grill yesterday, I'm more then pleased. First, the packaging is top-notch. It would take serious abuse to damage this unit in shipping. Second, assembly required is minimal, fast and easy. Third, the actual cooking. I get up at 8 and go to work at 9:30 on Sundays. I had time to grill steaks for steak and eggs and do a rack of spare-ribs before work (admittedly, not low-and-slow, but the 4 burners allow great flexibility). I look forward to using the smoker box and burner to add some woody flavor to my meat, but I'm very pleased with the gas results. The flavorizer bars are a great idea-flare ups are well controlled and the burners protected.
I don't think you could improve on this grill for any amount of money.
I bought this grill from the US to use here in Norway. Had to change a few parts to make it work, but Weber was very helpfull and I still saved about $600 by doing it this way. I love my new grill, and use it every day I can :-) Highly recommended!
First off I want you to know I am an owener of a Big Texas by thermos grill. I have used this grill for over 10 years while I was on a budget in college. I was in need of a new grill as this one is wearing out. I looked everywhere and decided on the Weber E-450. At first I thought it was a little expensive, until I read all of the reviews on this grill and the 310-320 series grills. I chose this grill because it was bigger than the 310 and the knobs are located on the front, giving you vaulable needed workspace. The side burner is a powerful burner much like the biggest burner on your kitchen stove. The grill heats up quickly with only 3 of the 4 burners on. Another feature that I liked is the handle light. It works better than reviews have given it as it dims as you lower the lid. I think if you had 2 of them you could cook without lights on at all. Overall this is by far the best investment I have made in a long time. My advise is to go to Homedepot and play with the Weber 310 and then the other grills and just feel the difference in quality. I bought my grill on Amazon and saved several hundered over homedepot on the e-450. You will be happy you paid a little more for the quality you get.
I have owned several gas grills over the past 40 years and I am most pleased with the Weber E-450. It has all of the features that are needed for serious outdoor cooking (4 burners, smoker compartment with it's own burner, rotisserie with it's own burner, and a side burner). The materials are all heavy duty and well crafted and assembled (stainless steel grates, burners, side shelves, and fittings; heavy cast aluminum cook box).
Rainbow Appliance is an excellent supplier for this product: Best total price (grill + shipping), delivery when they promised, and excellent responsiveness/communication from their customer service folks).
